Today Diema’s Dream Fund has launched the Pilot Project ‘Portage’ in Pervomaisk orphanage in the Kostroma region.
Our charity thought it was important to reach out to the Pervomaisk orphanage as it has more then more than 90 children with development issues there. As a result, we have trained a team of five workers to become specialists in the Portage method who had learnt it in spring. When arriving, it was clear we could see interest yet skepticism in our technique. However we at Diema’s Dream believe it to be necessary that a child is not only washed and fed for they are not objects, but as well humans which in turn require far more mental stimulation than simply being placed in a cot or corner all day long.
On an even brighter note, when the team from Diema’s Dream left to go into the yard when exiting witnessed a girl. This was no ordinary girl, but one who who literally in the summer was operated on by the orthopaedic department in Moscow, with which Diema’s Dream Foundation was in cooperation with. As a result she was running …. with many other children also running around her, who much like us were similarly not able to take their eyes off their little friend. It was a wonderful end to a day, where scenarios like these are often only dreamt about!
