Required: rehabilitation course in the center “Rodnik” (Spring), St. Petersburg, worth 269,050 rubles.
Diagnosis: hyperkinetic cerebral palsy, seizure disorder.
From her mom’s letter: “I am a mother of three daughters, one of them is a child with special needs.
Two and half months after Angelina was born, I began noticing that my daughter was developing differently from other kids – she couldn’t hold her head up and there were uncontrollable movements of her limbs. We went to a neurologist, had a CT scan and Angelina was diagnosed with the terrible disease – hyperkinetic cerebral palsy and delayed psychomotor development.
After another EEG in 2014 she was also diagnosed with symptomatic focal epilepsy. It was dreadful. We went to the Epilepsy Medical Center “EPI CENTER” which is a private clinic, so all the examinations and treatment courses were provided on a paid-for basis. Besides, we went for assessment to Moscow. I’m knocking on doors and seeking advice and help from plenty of clinics, but most of them turned us down because of Angelina’s seizures.
But me and my daughter – we don’t give up! Angelina started showing good results, and there’s positive dynamics in her arms and legs, and her back got stronger. I learnt techniques of Voight’s therapy to do exercises at home, taping back muscles and legs. I also bought a special rehabilitation suit, and Angelina loves doing exercises wearing it. She can’t sit or stand on her own, she barely speaks. But she is a very clever girl, she makes contact with kids. She is interested in different games, is very perceptive to sounds, responds to her name and is such a cheerful girl!
The situation requires hard work and lots of patience but I will stop at nothing to help my daughter and improve her health. Angelina is making strides in her physical development – she stopped holding her neck lopsidedly, she can turn and slightly lift herself. She wants to sit and stand up on her feet – we get so emotional! I’m doting over her, looking at her progress. Her seizures are less frequent now, but we’ve got a long way ahead…
Angelina needs another course of rehabilitation in the center “Rodnik” (Spring) in 2020. I’m left alone to support three kids and continue with the struggle for my daughter. We have to spend all the money on expensive medicine and check-ups. It gets more complicated to rehabilitate my child with every passing year, and I’m scared of losing the precious time …”
