From the letter of the mother: “My name is Sarajeva Julia, and in our family there is a disabled child with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, a very quiet, calm girl, 4 years old. We live in Penza, and we spend all our strength and resources on our daughter, because the treatment of cerebral palsy is one of the most expensive, because it requires constant participation.
In 2014, our little miracle was born, weighing only 1,460 grams, 39 cm, which we were waiting for. From the very beginning, things didn’t go like normal and healthy children, childbirth began prematurely, 2 weeks in intensive care, Nastya could not breathe herself, there were attempts to disconnect from the ventilator, but she didn’t have enough of her own strength, and had to connect it to the device again. Doctors said that she did not live long, that this was a child from the category of heavy children. We did not lose hope. Moms like me are discharged from the hospital after 6 days, and I left alone, with a sense of pain, loss, despair. Only at 1 month I was able to join the child in the hospital, and we got home when my daughter was 3 months old.
Understanding the seriousness of the birth of a 7-month-old child, from the first days of our stay at home we did exercise therapy, visited the pool, lay in local rehabilitation centers, and at 4 months the daughter confidently held her head, manipulated her hands, studied the world around us.
But the next step in development – turning over, crawling, was not given to us at all, but the doctors did not sound the alarm, saying that 7-month-old children always lag behind, then they will catch up. Even in the year when some healthy children were already walking, we could not roll over from our back to the stomach. And here we realized that there was nothing to wait for, and on our own went to Moscow, to a paid center to Professor I. Skvortsov. in his “Scientific and therapeutic center for the prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disability”, where he was first heard about cerebral palsy. Then it became easier for us. Of course, we were upset that our child is special, but this is not a reason to give up.
Now, when we realized that there are many different methods of treatment of cerebral palsy, it only remained to try which one would be suitable for our child. We thank Prof. Skvortsov every day that he appeared in our life.
Now Nastya is 4 years old. The psychologist says that mental development within the age, the speech therapist also puts the development of speech within the age, because she knows the letters, thinks, recites poems, draws, helps the mother in the kitchen, sculpts from plasticine. Speaking of physical development – she crawls on all fours, stands at the support, can walk with walkers, but independent walking is for us still only a goal to which we are going.
Our path shows that cerebral palsy is not a sentence, it is just a daily struggle with the disease. We achieved the best results after the “You are healthy” center in Penza, many hours of exercise therapy, the Gross simulator, the Exarth system and much more gave a good leap in the physical development of her daughter, but the clinic bills, which my husband and I cannot pay for ourselves. Of course, it’s not just asking for help, but my daughter’s full future is more precious than any of my fears and doubts. Having passed this way, we believe that Nastya can become a full-fledged member of society, and she will be able to bring benefits, because children with disabilities have an infinitely kind heart, they smile at the smile of another person, they see the world with other colors, because every day they have to overcome yourself and move on.
Every time it becomes scary that you will not find funds for rehabilitation, because while there is at least one chance to put a child on his feet, any mother will fight, knock on closed doors, ask for help from those who do not have to do so. One dad works in our family, all our own savings are spent on treatment, and we are not able to make the last breakthrough – go with our legs, that’s why we are asking you for help. It is always not easy to ask, but during this time we understood what is better to do and get a refusal than not to try and, perhaps, miss the only chance. Our family asks for your help in paying for the rehabilitation course in the “You are healthy” center in Penza, in the amount of 120,000 rubles, and we will be extremely happy and grateful for any help.
With respect to you, Sarajevo family “
