Polina Vorobyeva – in need of a Grillo walking simulator at the cost of 248,948.00 rubles.
Diagnosis: cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis, delayed verbal development, partial atrophy of the optic nerves, hyperopia.
We recently received a letter from the young girl’s mother:
“I, the mother of Polina Vorobeva, appeal to you with a request to assist us in paying the bill for a walking trainer for our daughter. In 2010 Polina had an operation on her legs in St.Petersburg, after which she began to walk on crutches.
The diagnosis of cerebral palsy and hypoxia diagnosed at her birth meant we were told she would face many health complications. Nevertheless, we try our best to work with what we have both physically and mentally. As a result of her determination, my daughter is currently studying at home, and has successfully graduated from fifth grade with a report card consisting of “4” and “5’s, the Russian equivalent to A+ and A’s.
However, in 2017, there was still an operation that Polina had to go through in means to dissect muscles bound with spasticity. Now, Polina needs to relearn the way she moves, of which will be difficult for her as it has been practiced consistently and memorized in her mind over the years. Thus, to help her transition to be smoother, this is where the Grillo simulator comes in. It has a suspension system that allows her to be on her feet for a long time, preventing Polina from crossing her legs while walking and to instead be parallel with each other.
At the moment without the aid of the Grillo simulator, my daughter when in the outside world such as on the street can only sit on the bench as her legs get tired quickly. Although with a walking trainer, her coordination will improve immensely and her muscles will get stronger, allowing her to walk or stand for longer.
In our small town is hard to earn, much a less with a disabled child. My husband is an employed electrician, but that is hardly enough to keep up with our child’s treatments much a less equipment in means of rehabilitation. So, our family asks to please help, even a small contribution can mean the world to us.
If you want to help sweet Polina, you can make a donation directly on our website.
