From her mom’s letter: “Liza-Mariya was born prematurely and spent her first months at hospital, three of those on a ventilator. My daughter was three years old when I was informed that my child will stay handicapped for all her life and won’t be able to perform even basic actions because of brain damage. It’s only me who has always believed in my child – and I still do. True, my daughter can’t do much, but we both invest in her development – we’ve learnt to read, count and walk with special walkers. I can see progress in her development after regular rehabilitation courses, but sometimes we can’t afford them…
Liza can stand with the aid of a walker and move around a bit, she also needs support to sit. She studies at school, in a class for physically challenged kids. During the lockdown she studied by Zoom. Liza can’t talk yet, but she understands everything perfectly well, she reads, counts and gives answers using cards. She’s already learnt by heart all the works by Chukovsky and fairy tales by Pushkin. She’s keen on listening to audio fairy tales. Liza is very communicative. She likes to boast of her toys and loves praise.
Liza has contracture in her left knee and it starts in her right knee as well. She needs stretching, verticalization and physical activity. If we stop now and fail to continue with rehabilitation, my daughter will get back to her wheelchair, probably forever…
I’m eternally grateful to everyone who helps us along this journey – in word and deed, by donating money. Thank you for supporting and believing in us!”
We are raising funds for Liza-Mariya!
