On this sunny September day, we continue our project of helping children of the Orphanage No. 11 in acquiring and improving the skills of creativity and crafting. In August Diema’s Dream Fund donated a set of equipment and materials for making carved candles within creative workshops in the orphanage. And shortly afterwards, the director of the orphanage asked us to hold a master class to show how to use the donated materials.
Of course, we could not fail to respond to this simple request and began to search for candlemakers. Hence, such a wonderful person was quickly found who goes by the name of Oksana Vorobyova, the founder and the head of the creative workshop “The Carved Candle”. She readily responded to our request to give the children their first lesson in making carved candles and actively joined the preparation for the event, kindly providing us with advisory support.
Finally, the master class was held. Children eagerly awaited for the workshop to start, enjoying the atmosphere of creativity. The production of candles is not an easy task, requiring patience and loads of attention. Despite the fact that the event lasted for 6 hours in total, all the children-participants showed an enviable endurance and dedication, which led to excellent results. It turned out that a simple white mass can be turned into surprisingly stunning multi-colored candles.
Thanks to the skill and attention of the host, each of the 11 participants was able to make his or her own unique candle. All the children were happy and proud of the results of their work! Oksana was so engaged with the process that at the end of the workshop she was helping her students to prepare candles for cutting.
Diema’s Dream Fund cordially gives their gratitude towards Oksana Vorobyova for the workshop which was ran at a superbly high level. Without good people such as her, important life-changing cases of comprehensive assistance to the children of psychoneurological boarding schools could not be carried out. We are also grateful to the administration of the Orphanage No. 11 for the initiative of organising this event in the first, as well as their assistance in preparing and holding the work shop.
