Diema’s Dream Fund helped launch a new operating room for the children’s orthopedic department of one of the federal hospitals.
The repair was done here by the forces and means of the hospital, but in the operating room it was very hot – the sunny side, the upper floor of the building, curtains and blinds are prohibited by sanitary standards. Hours-long operations in such conditions are torture
for both children and doctors. Now the quality of service will be much better. We sigh with great relief and thank all those who helped in a big way. Every month dozens of children from all over Russia operate in the children’s orthopedic department.
We help the hospital within the framework of the Quality of Life Project.
The project is aimed at improving the conditions of stay of children in inpatient medical institutions during operations and rehabilitation courses.
As a rule, children are in the hospital from 3 weeks to 6 months. In most cases, these children do not have the opportunity to go out and they spend all this time in hospital wards and corridors among the gray walls of the hospital.
In addition to medical rehabilitation, children need to continue their education and mental, emotional and creative development. The budget of the hospital does not provide for the costs of meeting the needs of children. But children have these needs.
What are we doing
Having found a space where for some reason children live (orphanage, boarding school, children’s hospital or department for children with disorders of the musculoskeletal system), we, in coordination with the administration, improve the quality of children’s living:
– we invite artists to paint the walls and create an atmosphere of joy and fairy tales.
– we are building a library for children
– we provide developmental games, materials, toys and materials for creativity – as far as the norms of medical institutions allow.
If necessary, we purchase technical means of rehabilitation that improve the quality of life of children and the quality of medical services (wheelchairs, for example).
We provide postoperative patient hygiene products. You can help here The Quality ofLife Project as well!
