Thanks to you, Kirill Vavilov, born in 2008 in Ulyanovsk, has started to walk and can now move his left hand even more.
Needed: Massages throughout the year at the Zdorovoye Pokoleniye clinic
Cost: 138,000 rubles and an elliptical trainer, costing 48,000 rubles
Diagnosis: Effects of perinatal affection of central nervous system, infant cerebral palsy, and left-sided hemiparesis with hemihypertrophy. Complex dyslalia.
From his mother’s letter:
“As fate would have it, when Kirill was 2 years and 8 months old, he was wrongly diagnosed twice and underwent brain surgery. This led to brain hemorrhages. Kirill was paralyzed in the left side of his body and stopped walking and talking. In the N. N. Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute, the council decided to fit his brain with a magnetic shunt system in order to save him. This prevents him from undergoing any physiotherapy, and due to his hematologic disease, he cannot take medicine. I’m asking for assistance to help cover the cost of his rehabilitation: massages and an elliptical trainer so that Kirill can develop his muscles at home. Kirill is still a child; the whole family believes he still has a chance to recover.”
On April 25, 2016, we payed 138,000 rubles for massage sessions for Kirill at the “Zdorovoe Pokolenie” clinic and 48,000 rubles for an elliptical trainer.
This was only possible due to the the anonymous donations made to the donations box at BP gas stations, which led to 88,400 rubles, and the contributions by the hockey teams participating in the Diema’s Dream international hockey tournament, organised by the Sergei Suyarkov Ice Style Russian School of Hockey, which tallied up to 97,600 rubles.
From his mother’s letter:
“As it happens, Kirill’s left ankle joint was operated on in October 2016. After the operation, he mainly lied and sat. Only after coming back home could we continue the full-body massages.
As a result, the muscles in Kirill’s back, legs, and arms have strengthened. After some time, our little Kirill started stepping with his left foot more confidently. And then, in addition to the massages and exercise therapy, he started working with the elliptical trainer. Thanks to this, the muscles in his arms, pelvic girdle, and back have started developing and strengthening. Of course, this exercise currently does not come easy for little Kirill; it is sometimes painful and there are sometimes tears, but this is what he needs to overcome his paralysis.
By exercising every day, little Kirill has started to walk and more frequently tries to use his left hand to handle objects. For example, he can already hold up pieces of bread and a cup (but only while empty for the time being) yet it is progress nevertheless.
We’d like to thank all of the donors for helping change the lives of children with mental disorders for the better! Every little bit counts, so if you would like to contribute to changing a child’s life for the better, click here: https://ddfrussia.ru/en/sdelat-pozhertvovanie/
