We sincerely thank you for your support of our project within Global Giving! For the past 2 years we are together improving the lives of children with severe mental and physical development!
We continue the amazing dog-therapy sessions with children at the Center of promoting family education “Vera.Nadezhda.Lyubov” in Moscow (formerly the orphanage) with YOUR help. There were 41 children in 2015, with some children we conducted exercises regularly, with others occasionally. But all children are developing – a lot the children begin feeling their body much better, phobia goes away, cognitive activity is developing, they become more self-reliant.
In the last session we were very surprised by Ivan (the name is changed). As usual he did not want to play
with the dogs. We reminded that he had promised us to lead dogs on a leash. And then miracle happened – Vanya himself (!) laid down on the mat! Although we did not even think to offer this activity as it required the child’s best effort. In his characteristic manner Vanya said: “What pleasure!”. And Vanya liked laying very much, and although he was frightened a little he spent the whole exercise without the assistance of a therapist. And then he lead dogs on a leash a bit, and played. We were proud of him; he coped with fear and laziness!
Kirill (the name is changed) was changed a lot, there was much less jerking hand, became more thoughtful and had focused look. Even though the child does not hear, he understands everything. He came to the mat by himself, laid down and he worked a lot of things on the alignment of the body independently.
Ilya (the name is changed) did not do the dog for a long time, but once recognized. Dog-therapy sessions with him were long – he was changing his postures by virtue of his individual characteristics of all the time, walked around dogs, lead them on a leash, and laid and sat. He also worked through his own sense of the body, and the therapist helped him little.
We saw Agu (the name is changed) for the first time. He hadn’t seen dogs, apparently so close before. Autistic boy and his emotions just rolled over, he could hardly wait for his turn. Therefore, the therapist applied to him the completely different tactic – he was brought actively into activity through physical contact, and put it among the dogs. And Aga calmed down, began watching at dogs with curiosity, cognitive activity began. And, when we were busy with other children, Aga tagged onto next.
We thank you for your support of these children – without you, their development would not be possible!
Help them to develop further by making regular donations and telling your friends about us. We are so grateful to Global Giving for raising funds for dog therapy. We see tremendous changes with the children when we are able to use dog therapy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
