Requires: rehabilitation course in the center “Rodnik” in St. Petersburg, RUB 249 750.00.
Diagnosis: cerebral palsy, developmental speech delay.
Expectations after the rehabilitation: joint mobility and balance will improve, it will be possible to start learning to walk in a walker.
From her mother’s letter:
«Aleksandra is the second twin. She is unbelievable cheerful and has a great sense of humor. She understands her condition and her greatest desire is to learn how to control her body, walk with a walker and master skiing (she is a huge fan). She and her brother were born on the 29th week. They were on IVL for 21 days, then on oxygen, and as they were removed from oxygen, the ultrasound of the brain showed some damage, which meant the possibility of cerebral palsy.
For the first year of her life, Sasha did not move at all. The prognosis wasn’t good. But one wonderful doctor encouraged us to fight. So as soon as the doctors allowed, we began to exercise. Honestly, my heart was torn to pieces when my kids screamed at massage and exercise therapy. But when Sasha managed to crawl the first meters, and Ilya could walk with support I felt so happy.
Then we had years of treatment, we had our ups and downs. Sasha firstly learned to sit in a wheelchair, and then after some years she began to try to walk with support. But there were problems with hands. The right hand does not work at all. But with rehabilitation we have managed to survive without surgeries for 11 years! But now she reached puberty. Her body is growing and all our achievements are at risk if we don’t get rehabilitation…
The self-isolation regime, the lack of comprehensive rehabilitation immediately affected Sasha’s condition. It became more difficult for her to stand with the support. She began to feel pain in her knees, in her back, and it became more difficult to take care of her. Rehabilitation is a vital part of her life. It helps Sasha to improve the quality of life.
Sasha is growing up in a large and friendly family. She has two brothers and an older sister. She loves to communicate with others, but still she suffers … We often talk to her about her condition. And while I hardly manage to cope with her mental suffering, I absolutely can’t cope with her physical suffering. While Sasha was a baby, I prepared a lot of exercises by myself, but now she has grown and recovered, and I am just not strong enough to hold her… And without comprehensive rehabilitation courses we simply can’t go on!
I ask you to help Aleksandra. She is trying very hard and really wants to walk and be independent in her everyday life. »
