From his mother’s letter:
«Arsen is the second and long-awaited child in our family, he has an elder sister Vilena. He was born at 29 weeks by a c-section. His weight barely reached 1,500 kg. The condition was serious, he was immediately incubated. Starting from his first days and for a month he daily received IV lines, injections, tube feeding, blood transfusion. In the end, he got a terrible diagnosis and disability at the age of one. At that moment our new life began, our upside-down life. Since that time, we have been fighting for Arsen’s health, for his happy childhood and his future.
Until the age of two, Arsen could only sit with support. After numerous rehabilitation courses, he learned a lot and still achieves good results. After going through more rehabilitation courses in various centers Arsen learned to sit on his own, get up, crawl. For the age of 4 it was a brilliant result, but not the limit of his capabilities. The center’s specialists say that Arsen has great potential and can become a healthy boy.
Arsen is 8 years old now. He is in the first grade of a comprehensive school. He is a smart boy. Arsen speaks very well, can read and write. He loves counting and solving math problems. Now he is already learning the English alphabet. Arsen really likes taking walks, and we manage it using a wheelchair. You can’t imagine what I feel when I see him looking at the children running, at the boys chasing the ball… He says: “Mom, I wish I could run, chase the ball, when I am able to run I will…” It’s very hard to hold back my tears at these times. And on holidays or his birthday, Arsen says to me: “Mom, why don’t I have friends? Why doesn’t anyone come to my birthday party?” It makes me so sad knowing that he is deprived of a happy childhood, that he is limited in communication.
At the age of 8, he has already undergone a number of surgeries on his legs at the Ilizarov clinic in Kurgan. Honestly, I have never regretted it. After the surgery Arsen learned to stand and walk with support. It is a miracle indeed. And our goal is to be able to walk independently. To achieve this goal, as you understand, we need continuous rehabilitation, it is vital and important! Arsen needs to receive qualified help and undergo treatment courses as often as possible. Only this way we will be able to defeat the disease and take the first independent steps in life.
We plan to undergo a full course of rehabilitation. The treatment is very expensive, and we are unable to pay for it on our own. In our family, the only working person with an income is Arsen’s dad.
I really believe Arsen will recover, I believe in his happy future. He is strong, he is fighting for his health. Every day I thank God for him. He taught me to think differently, to live differently! We love and appreciate him so much!
Please help him, do not leave him alone on this difficult path to recovery. He really wants to walk!!! Please help me to give my boy a chance to become a healthy child! »
