For the first time in Russia, the Diema’s Dream Fund together with the charitable organization ThePromise (Great Britain) organized a seminar within the framework of the Portage Model Project “Training for Trainers”, which was held in Moscow from 9 to 11 April 2019 on the basis of the resource center of the NGO “Fortunatovskaya” of the committee of public organizations in Moscow.
The seminar was attended by 12 practitioners from such children’s institutions with work experience in the Portage Model, such as Skolkovsky Center for the promotion of family education (Moscow), Center for the promotion of family education «The trust» (Moscow), Psychological and Pedagogical Center (Moscow), Pervomaisky orphanage for mentally retarded children (Kostroma region), Arzamas orphanage for mentally retarded children (Nizhny Novgorod region), Center for Medical Pedagogy and Differential Education of the Pskov Region, which introduced itself opportunity to lead and skills of training in this methodology in accordance with the standard of the National Association Portage Model (UK).
Portage Model is a well-established, accurate, simple, universal model of individual work with children with disabilities, including with severe and multiple developmental disorders, aimed at developing the skills of children in the areas of movement, self-service, cognition, speech, socialization.
After successfully working out all sections and practical activities, each participant received a certificate as a trainer, which gives the right to train employees in children’s institutions together with those coaches who have the same certificate, including coaches from other countries.
