In August 2020, we paid for the next rehabilitation course for Nikita S., St. Petersburg at the Rodnik Center for the cost of 149,600 rubles. Thanks to the help of our donors, Nikita was able to continue his rehabilitation according to an individual program. Taking into account the fact that Nikita has organic lesions of the central nervous system, atonic-astatic form of cerebral palsy, epilepsy, strabismus and many other diagnoses, each of which is considered severe, the boy desperately needs full-fledged individual rehabilitation, which can only be obtained in specialized medical centers. One of them is the Rodnik Center in St. Petersburg.
From mom’s letter:
“So our next course of classes in the Children’s Habilitation Center“ Rodnik ”in St. Petersburg has ended. During this period, we successfully studied with various specialists: AFC, speech therapist, defectologist, hand motility classes, sensory integration. As a result, Nikita has good results, we also received valuable advice from specialists on the development of his son at home.
Nikita’s condition has stabilized today and new skills appear with each course of rehabilitation. Nikita is now 7 years old, is slowly mastering communication with peers and has learned to be in the company of strangers. Treatment gives positive dynamics. Nikita plays with toys, learned to pronounce some sounds, recognizes loved ones. The son crawls, sits on his knees, kneels high and grabs the support. Nikita began to walk more confidently with support, the step became more confident and conscious, in addition, he is trying to catch balance. Thanks to lessons in fine motor skills, the fingers started to work more actively, tweezers began to form, and the child became more inquisitive. In the classroom, Nikita is engaged with a variety of toys: various pyramids, nesting dolls help to develop his son’s logical thinking, mastering new shapes and sizes, as well as colors. Cubes help develop spatial thinking, attention and logic.
Nikita also fell in love with the sensory room and especially the sensory suspended swing, through which his son develops reaction, balance, motor planning, and visual-motor coordination; muscles are trained and strengthened. In general, sensory integration classes with Nikita help harmonious sensory development, the formation of a holistic body sensation, and develop the vestibular apparatus.
I want to note that each lesson in the center helps us to move forward a lot! No exercise – no progress, without exercise, the symptoms of cerebral palsy increase, intellectual development also suffers, secondary complications develop, which are difficult, painful and expensive to deal with. Nikita is a very capable child, so each lesson in the center helps his son learn something new and, of course, constantly improve his knowledge, skills and abilities. Therefore, thanks to your help, Nikita is growing and developing!
With deep gratitude and respect, Elena S. and Nikita S. ”
We would like to thank Renault Russia for their support in paying for the course for Nikita! We are very grateful to our partners for the opportunity to help families with children with severe multiple developmental disabilities!
