From her mother’s letter:
«Darina was born from my first pregnancy by a C-section at 32 weeks with a weight of 1.904 kg and height of 44 cm. She did not breathe on her own and therefore was put on a vent. Before being discharged she was in intensive care and then in the pathology department for 21 days. Discharged with a weight of 2,300 kg. By the time she was three months, she could keep her head on her own, smiled and did everything children do at her age. But something went wrong when she was 6 months old. Only when she turned 1 year and 9 months she was officially diagnosed with cerebral palsy. From the moment she was diagnosed we started visiting our local rehabilitation centers, underwent treatment there every 3 months. Darina learned to roll over, grab toys, sit and crawl. After the rehabilitation course in Taganrog, she learned to crawl on all fours and stand on her own. Now Darina is 8. Unfortunately, the current situation with the pandemic made us give up long trips. So, we found a good adapted physical education specialist in our city and have already completed 2 courses, and we can see the result. There is a lot of work to be done, and we must continue. Darina is getting better at controlling her body, learning to keep balance. At the age of 8, Darina does not walk on her own, but can stand and move with support, she can eat, drink sit and get up by herself. The only thing she needs help with is her first steps.
At the moment we are facing difficulties in our life. Quite recently Darina and I were left alone. We rent an apartment, and I can frankly that it is not very easy for us now. I can’t say that we live, we only survive. Darina needs me 24 hours a day. I still have no opportunity to go to work and somehow help my child.
Knowing that there is a financial opportunity to provide my child with the necessary and important procedures for her will make our life very much easier. In addition to rehabilitation courses, there are additional expenditures for which we simply can’t afford sometimes. After all, we choose what is most important to us. And the most important thing for us now is rehabilitation.
I admire every person who does good things. I would like to thank these kind people. You give us the strength to move on. It is you who give us the opportunity to go on and move forward, not give up and help our children. »
