Thanks to all of you, Elena Donets from Sochi, got a bathing seat! We are grateful to all those who sent donations because of their kindness and their commitment to children with severe mental and physical developmental disorders!
Needed: “Blue wave” bathing seat, costing 116,499 roubles
Diagnosis: Infantile cerebral palsy, severe spastic tetraparesis, symptomatic epilepsy
Here’s what her mother wrote:
“Lena’s diagnoses are serious, but not hopeless. Over the past 13 years we have travelled across Russia, as well as to Ukraine and China. Thanks to medical experts, Lena is now able to distinguish colors and shapes, she can point to images, she knows the alphabet and the numbers, she can speak in small sentences, knows a lot of fairy tales and songs, can crawl and sit for a little bit and with some help she can walk using a walker.
Right now Lena needs a seat for safe bathing and other hygienic procedures that will make care for her significantly easier. The “Blue Wave” seat can be adjusted to the necessary height to move Lena from her wheelchair to the bathtub more comfortably. It also has anti-skidding coating and belts that ensure Lena’s safety in the bathroom.
Unfortunately, the seat that was distributed by the SIF in early 2016 was too big and did not match the size of our bathroom. It had no grips to ensure child safety. So I cannot use it as intended.”
We purchased the “Blue Wave” bathing seat for Elena at a price of 116,499 rubles on December 23, 2016.
We express our warm gratitude to:
- Eugeniya Grigorieva for donating 1,000 rubles;
- M. Braylovskaya for donating 4,000 rubles;
- Anonymous donor for donating 392 rubles through our website;
- Anonymous donors – BP gas station clients, who donated 111,499 rubles.
Now Lena will be able to take a bath in safety and comfort. It’s not just a seat, it’s another way for Lena to communicate with her close ones through touch and water sensations. Moreover, if Lena feels comfortable in the bathroom, she might get to like the process of taking a bath.
