From my mother’s letter:
“Artem is now four years old, he was born from the second planned pregnancy. Artem was born deeply premature at 30 weeks. For the first 2 months of his life, doctors fought for his life – resuscitation, respiratory arrest, and the result was bronchopulmonary dysplasia. But despite the difficult situation, Tema survived. We were discharged at two months with an extract from the perinatal center, with three-page diagnoses and dispensary observation by an ophthalmologist, audiologist, neurologist, and surgeon. For a long time, Artyom could not pass the test with an audiologist, he was diagnosed with hearing loss. Up to a year there were constant bronchitis and pneumonia, and it was not possible to go through rehabilitation in neurology.
Artyom ate well, slept well and gurgled. But in due time, Artyom did not start to roll over, sit, crawl. Doctors said to wait, that he would catch up with his peers, attributing everything to prematurity. But at 10 months old, we went to the Neuron Republican Children’s Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital, and there Artem was diagnosed with moderate spastic tetraparesis, cerebral palsy. At first, Artem underwent rehabilitation in the neurological department. Exactly in the year when the kids usually start to take their first steps, Artem crawled like a plastunsky, pulling himself up on his hands, made a gift to mom and dad for his birthday. But as it turned out, this treatment in the neurological department is not enough. Thus began the constant search for competent specialists, massages, exercise therapy, Vojta, a swimming pool, hippotherapy, many hours of homework …
And Artem began to make progress – at the age of one and a half he sat down, at 1.7 he crawled on all fours, at the age of two he began to walk at the support. But Artyom did not succeed in walking without support.
And then we went to the First Step clinic in Kazan for the first time, after the first course Artem began to walk with one hand, he became more mobile. If earlier Atem’s favorite pastime was to play board games at the table, then after the treatment he began to walk with one hand and play hide and seek with his sisters. After this treatment, we went through two more courses of treatment at the clinic and Artyom began to walk independently, with small dashes, everyone was very happy about this, even the neighbors noticed Artyom’s changes, they praised him very much.
Now Artem needs rehabilitation every three months to consolidate the progress made. At 4 years old, Artem can sit, crawl on all fours, stand up and walk a few steps. Artyom constantly falls down when walking and gets very upset and roars that he can’t walk, but he tries again and again, he is a very hardworking boy, he always diligently completes all the tasks that he is given … The boy has a intact intellect, he understands everything, well He says he loves to have books read to him, collects puzzles and plays doctor, this is his favorite game. He wants to heal everyone. Artyom has a dream, he wants to overtake his older sister in tag, he constantly asks to read a book about the “flower-seven-color” to him, this is his favorite fairy tale.
According to the doctors, Artem has every chance of walking independently, but for this he needs to constantly exercise. The boy needs a rehabilitation course at the First Step Medical Center. Artem needs constant rehabilitation to maintain his walking skills.
After undergoing rehabilitation, Artem always has some new “skill”. At the last rehabilitation, he learned to walk up the stairs, holding on to one hand.
I beg you to help my son, in such a difficult time, unfortunately, our family now does not have the opportunity to pay for rehabilitation, and Artyomchik really needs it.”
Thanks to your help, we helped Artem, but many more children are waiting for your help here
