Required: rehabilitation course in the center “Adeli-Penza”, worth 200,000 rubles.
Diagnosis: Cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia.
Timur’s story is similar to hundreds of others. The boy was born prematurely – it was the 32 week of pregnancy. He weighed 1,350g and was 39cm tall. He spent two months in Special Care Nursery in Vladimir and then was discharged. His blissful infancy period – when the baby was gaining on weight and growing up – was cut short when Timur was 10 months old. The doctors diagnosed him with developmental delay and cerebral palsy.
Timur is now 12. He is a smart and curious teenager – a fifth-grader at a regular school who knows a lot of poems by heart, reads, writes and draws well.
From his mother’s letter:
“Timur is going to great lengths to fit in. On his journey to his dream he has to learn to walk independently. However, there are no rehabilitation or treatment facilities in our hometown for my son. We have to travel across Russia and even abroad. We get the best results from Adeli suit therapy. I’m sure, we’ll achieve success. As doctors say, my son is a very promising child. After each rehabilitation course he acquires new skills and strives to learn something new. He enjoys studying.
A year ago my son had a surgery in Ilizarov Center in Kurgan. He spent two months in a cast, so we now need active rehabilitation and exercises for his joints. This year we’ve been to a health center in Eupatoria – Timur had a range of recovery procedures and exercises. In the summer he had PT with physiologists and swam in the sea. We are currently doing exercises at home as well as going to the swimming pool and having therapeutic horse riding lessons.
It’s already been a year since the surgery, so it’s high time he had Adeli suit therapy to strengthen muscles. My son has to learn to walk from scratch.
His muscles will strengthen during a rehabilitation course, so it’ll be easier for Timur to master new skills. I’ll certainly feel much better and happier if Timur becomes more independent. My life is focused on him – I take care of him every day, but my dream is to see him doing things on his own, without support.
I would like to personally thank everyone who has been helping my son get closer to his dream! It’s hard to imagine the pain you’ve never felt, so people who empathize with and support our kids are superheroes with big hearts. Your support sets an example for all of us. A million thanks! Wishing health to you and your families”.
